The background score by Imman is pulsating and makes you wonder why Suseenthiran couldn't have done more justice to the screenplay and plot. Cinematography by Velraj is also sharp and saves the film from becoming a completetorture. Kajal looks her best in all the songs, and particularly stands out in the first song Yaar Indha Muyaalkutty. The songs have all been picturized really well with foot tapping melodies. On the technical front, this film is good and the one who probably deserves the most praise is D Imman (music director). Let's just say he probably needs to go on a good break and come back fresh. It's high time Vishal starts taking responsibility in selecting some solid scripts. Even with its so called twists and turns the film will make you cry. Towards the climax, the film really tests your patience and you start wondering when it will end. Even the investigation scenes are quite dull and lack the momentum needed to keep the audiences engaged. Suseenthiran overloads the film with a lot of unwanted elements and there is no intelligence in the script. I felt that in these aspects Suseenthiran did a fair job but where the film really fails is the second half. Surprisingly, this was not an issue for me. I found a lot of reviews saying that the comedy and romantic scenes interfere with the script. One of my other favourite actors, Jeya Prakash has also been given quite a limited role. It's a shame to see that an actor with so much potential has not been utilized properly. Samithurkani has once again been wasted after MASS, although he has a little bit more scope than MASS. I usually find Kajal Aggarwal to be annoying, but in this film she was not bad. Vishal's role as Jayaseelan is nothing special and could have been enacted by any other actor.

Suseenthiran's Paayum Puli is one such film! The movie starts of with the usual commercial scenes that you find in any film. While there are directors trying to take Tamil Cinema forward, there are some who still make films as old as the hills. Still, PaayumPuli is worth a watch for its second half. Though Suseendiran has given a decent output, much more was expected from him. The twists and the logics have been worked out well throughout.

Velraj's cinematography was good throughout the movie. The BGM in the second half enables a perfect mood for the thriller.

The songs were average whereas the BGM was quite good. Suseendiran proves his stand when it comes to family values, screenplay and logics. Though it seems forced earlier, the director justifies their roles towards the end with a single scene. Other than Vishal and Samuthirakani, there is a huge number of star cast added to make this a family entertainer. He has played cleverly with the action and the emotions.Though Vishal has attempted cop roles before, this one is easily his best while Samuthirakani gets a meaty role to play which suits him well. From an ordinary film in the first half, the director shifts the gear into an edge of the seat thriller in the second half. This man Suseendiran showers his brilliance throughout the second half. This is where we get a hope on the movie and look forward to watch more. The movie gains pace towards the interval and ends with a good interval twist that establishes a perfect stage for the second half. Soori plays a side kick and evokes laughter in few scenes. Kajal Agarwal plays an usual commercial heroine who adds to the love quotient, songs and vanishes in the second half. An intro about the villains, three songs, two fights, love making scenes and forced comedy were parts of the first half. The first half was more of the so called commercial stuffs. Suseendiran, who is well known for his screenplay and woving a solid theme within a commercial script has attempted a cop thriller and with no second thought Vishal is someone who fits to the t. Their collaboration had a good hype and the last minute chaos gave a thrust to the hype created for PaayumPuli. The Vishal - Suseendiran combo has struck a gold in this their previous outing " Pandiyanadu ".
